Plugnap

Privacy policy

Effective October 1, 2026

The short version: Plugnap has no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no analytics. To find your rate plan and cheapest charging time, the app sends your ZIP code and charging settings to our server. Our server keeps standard request logs for 14 days, then deletes them.

Who we are

Plugnap is made by Beck's IT Consulting ("we"). Questions about this policy go to jeff@becksitconsulting.com.

What the app sends to our server

The app talks only to api.plugnap.com, always over HTTPS. Depending on what you're doing, a request can include:

None of this includes your name, email, Apple ID, or any device identifier, and we don't ask you to create an account.

Location

If you tap "Use my location," the app asks for permission and gets your location once. It uses Apple's location services to turn that into a ZIP code on your iPhone, and only the ZIP code is sent to our server. That lookup is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Your precise location is never sent to us or stored. You can skip this and type your ZIP code instead.

What our server keeps

Like most web servers, ours records each request: your IP address, the time, the requested address (which includes the ZIP code and settings above), and the app version and iOS version your device reports. We use these logs only to keep the service secure and to fix problems. They're deleted after 14 days. We don't combine them with other data or use them to identify you.

The rate plans and prices the app shows are public data from the OpenEI Utility Rate Database. Nothing about you is sent to OpenEI.

What stays on your iPhone

Your ZIP code, chosen plan, charging settings, and a copy of your plan's prices are stored on your iPhone, so the app and its widget work without asking again. Deleting the app deletes them.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. Our servers are hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States, which stores this data for us and isn't allowed to use it for anything else. We'd disclose information only if the law required it.

Children

Plugnap isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a future feature, such as connecting your car's account, needs more information, we'll update this policy before that feature ships and the app will ask for your permission first.
